I've been a bit too busy lately to play on the MUSH. Life has gotten in the way, new possibilities have entered and I may be moving. Right now I just have to finalize things, complete the process, make decisions.

Oof. Getting rather impatient with certain people's RP.
This isn't really directed at any one person, it's just a list of observations.
-This isn't AIM, or a chat room. There are certain expectations.
-You need to be realistic.
-Just because you, the player, knows something OOC does not mean your character knows the same.
-Just because a character does not fit into prescribed little molds doesn't automatically make them fated for something terrible.
-Just because a character isn't overtly sexual or trying to charm her way into every male(or female) character's pants doesn't mean the Player doesn't want to RP.
-Please read your pose before submitting it, checking for grammar and spelling errors. Honestly. We all make mistakes, but if I can't understand what your character is doing, I don't want to be around them. Remember, people have to read what you are typing.
-I do not like playing cliches, but people seem to really eat that stuff up. Why? It's so tired.
-You character does not have to be beautiful, wise, all-knowing, set up PERFECTLY for the job you want them to have. Sometimes characters don't get what the want, end up in a sucky job, aren't as smart as they think they are, make mistakes, have faults.. you know, like in the real world.

What's a girl to do..

CM Down.. May. 29th, 2005 @ 12:12 am
CrystalMUSH is down, and for who knows how long since it is the weekend AND a holiday so it's likely it will not be attended to for a while.
In the meantime, I'm going to be building a claim site, because I need SOMETHING to funnel my creativity into. The inspiration is here: http://www.nps.gov/havo/visitor/lava.htm

Also, I've figured out my very own geek code:
-----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK-----
Version: 3.1
GH/GSS d? s: a-- C++ U? P+ L- E?
W+++ N o? K- w+ O- !M VMS? PS++
PE- Y PGP- t+ 5 X+++ R+ tv+ b++
DI-- D? G- e++/* h? !r x+ z+
------END GEEK CODE BLOCK------

I am really hating the free web host I'm using for Sora's character - Freewebs.com, that is. They only let you upload one file at a time. Wtf is up with that?

A lot has happened to Sora these past few (ic)months. She's successfully seeing patients again, and has gotten used to the new leadership in the medical department. She's taken a while to warm up to Deputy Chief Vladmir, and now she actually feels comfortable in his presence. Whatever happened with Quinn still remains a mystery to her, though she is not one to pry.

The Deputy brought her attention to his project, the RedWings, and after hearing about it she went straight to the Simulators and finished all of her remaining Sim tests left over from her recruit days, when she had only completed two. She passed with a perfect score, and soon after she was accepted into the RedWing Fleet.

I have logs, but they need to be seriously cleaned up before I can add them to my website.

My latest project has been redesigning the CM website, currently at www.visi.com/~gyles19/CM . My redesign can currently be seen here: http://www.goddessmandala.com/CrystalMUSH/index.html

I would also like to learn more about the Mush's code - I've read the Mush Manuals, but they only go so far. Any ideas where else I can turn to?

» New trick
I just found out a neat trick today. To add a seasonal DESC to your suite, simply add &SPRING_DESC here=, &SUMMER_DESC here=, and so on.
» I've been gone for so long
It's been three years since I played last at CrystalMUSH - and for some reason I felt compelled to go back. So here I am - and happily there seems to be a greater number of players there. Wheee!

How do I explain Sora's "absence" for the past few years? I believe the time ratio ICly is 6ic to 1ooc. So 3 ooc years = 18IC years? Meep!
Anyhow, my cover story is that Sora's been ever busy in the Medical Center at the Western White Sea Facility, working in Research and Development. After these many years, she has decided to return to active duty and start seeing patients again.

Since she has been couped up in R&D for so long, she now has to go through retraining, due to technological advances, change in leadership and a rewriting of the medical protocol. In charge of her retraining is the acting chief of the medical department, Vladmir, and the slightly fresher meditech, Jenny O Gee.

Finally, after a nervous meeting with the Head of the Meditech Department, Sora is now a full medic and has been released to torture singers without supervision. Happy to have overcome this milestone, Sora now finds that she rather likes her job and learning new things. She is currently trying to get involved with Research and Development as well. Her previous interests in Marketing have diminished significantly, but still remain in a slight sense. She has been trying hard to keep in touch with all of her classmates, though this has proven difficult for her, given their location and business. She has found the Western White Sea Facility to be her home away from home, often enjoying a relaxing evening out on the veranda or walking around the lighthouse. Because of her fondness for the area, she is often found working at WWSF's own infirmary.

Recap:
Soralie's childhood can be described as having been nothing out of the ordinary. Being an only child, her parents could afford to send her to the best schools and provide her with many luxuries. At age 16, she became involved with a man nearly twice her age and soon became pregnant with her son, Rahn. Soralie loved her son deeply, but before he even reached the tender age of one, his father took him from his mother, claiming Soralie 'unfit' to raise him. Sora fought her now ex-husband, taking him to court and trusting the legal system to set things right. Unfortunately, her ex-husband had significant power and sway over the court and through false evidence and lies, was able to win his suit. Shortly after, father and son both mysteriously disappeared from the global registry and Soralie was unable to even visit her son. Since then, she has never known what her child has come to be, and has coped by burying the memory deep into her subconscious in effort to forget the whole ordeal and lead a normal life.

The global economy of Illtriax is well known throughout the planet's sector as being a highly intricate and efficient system of commerce. Lured in by this challenge of study, and needing to have something to throw herself into, Soralie spent several years studying the ebb and flow of currency as well as its effect on the people it traveled through. She also became talented in writing and music, playing the flute extremely well and publicizing two books. At around age 28, Sora decided that she needed a sense of renewal and change in her life and left Illtriax for the beaches of Syrine.

Rumors about Ballybran and the Heptite guild were common on her own home world, but it was on the beach of the Ophilea ocean where she overheard two guild members talking back and forth about the 'crystal market' and how they were frustrated by it's sudden turn that they couldn't afford to go to 'Maxim's Planet' (and instead ended up on this watery mudball). Further overhearing their complaints and misfortunes, Sora became intrigued by Ballybran and the very profitable guild that resided there. Hoping to become part of the Guild and a leader in the Marketing sector of Ballybran, Sora bought her ticket to Shankill.

----------------

After going through her adaptation with an extreme case of claustrophobia along with the normal fever and chills, Sora adapted first in her class to Meditech, which was a cause for dissapointment in Sora's eyes. So she would not be part of most elite market that most people have ever heard of - what now? She certainly didn't know anything about medicine and has not had any formal training in the field. Conflicted and unsure of her abilities, Sora now tries to fulfill her new role with determination to become one of the best in the field that the symbiont has chosen for her.
